I welcome you all to this curtain razor program of the International Gujarati Cultural Society Atlanta (IGCSA). We are privileged to have famous RJ and Orator Dhwanit as our kick-off program speaker.

International Gujarati Cultural Society – Atlanta, a non-profit organization established to promote cultural and literary activities to bring more awareness and closer to a home feeling for the Indian diaspora (especially from the Gujarat region) in Atlanta and the southeast region of the USA. We want to be instrumental in bringing cultural events to the Atlanta area.

We realized that whenever artists come from Gujarat, they mostly visit big cities on the East Coast and West Coast. This creates a big void in southern states and all the people who cherish the language remain deprived of such a fine musical and literary heritage. The goal of our organization is to fill that void and make the Gujarati diaspora aware of changing face of the Gujarati language and its rich and magnanimous traditions.

Four specific areas we want to promote are the following.

·       As a national promoter, bring deserving artists from Gujarat and arrange their shows in different cities in the USA and Canada.

·       Provide a platform for rising artists so that they can reach out globally through their performances.

·       Gujaratis of North America and Canada get an awareness of the changing landscape of Gujarati poetry, music, and many more art forms.

·       Work with the artists originally from Gujarat who had made the USA their new home and put them in front of the Gujarati audience.

We are ready to bring the different genre programs as mentioned below.

v Gujarati Sugam Sangeet

v Design programs to attract younger generations so that they can connect with their language roots.

v Poetry Recital sessions (કવિ સંમેલન)

v Folk music and folk songs (લોકગીતો અને ડાયરો)

v Experimental and commercial dramas with a unique storyline.

v Theme-based shows.

We are very excited to bring these programs and we need equal support from all of our esteemed guests present here and from all the Gujaratis of Atlanta and surrounding cities and states. We appreciate your involvement to join and enjoy the richness of our culture and our language.

As we all know that we need a team of dedicated people who share the same beliefs and passion. I will announce the names of the current board members. Almost all of you know them well but still, I will request them to stand in their place.

“ઇન્ટરનેશનલ ગુજરાતી કલ્ચરલ સોસાયટી - એટલાન્ટા”ની સ્થાપનાનો મુખ્ય હેતુ નોર્થ અમેરિકાના ગુજરાતીઓને ગુજરાતી સંગીત અને સાહિત્યના નવા પ્રવાહથી માહિતગાર કરવાનો છે. આ સંસ્થા Non-profit organization તરીકે રજિસ્ટર થયેલી છે. સંસ્થા માટે જે પણ આવક થશે (કાર્યક્રમ દ્વારા અથવા તો ડોનેશન દ્વારા) તે માત્ર આ સાહિત્યિક પ્રવ્રુત્તિ માટે જ ઉપયોગમાં લેવાશે.

જ્યારે કોઇપણ કલાકાર ગુજરાતથી આવે ત્યારે મોટાભાગે ઇસ્ટ કોસ્ટ અને વેસ્ટ કોસ્ટના શહેરોમાં કાર્યક્રમ આપીને પાછા ચાલ્યા જાય છે. સાઉથ ઇસ્ટના ગુજરાતીઓના વતન ઝુરાપાને વાચા આપવાનું કામ કરવા માટે આ સંસ્થાની સ્થાપના કરવામાં આવી છે.

સંસ્થાની સ્થાપના પાછળ ચાર મુખ્ય ઉદ્દેશ છે.

·        નોર્થ અમેરિકાના મુખ્ય આયોજક ગુજરાતી કલાકારોને બોલાવી અમેરિકા અને કેનેડાના વિવિધ શહેરોમાં એમના કાર્યક્ર્મોનું આયોજન કરવું.

·        નવા ઉગતા કલાકારોને એક મંચ મળે જેના થકી તેઓ ગ્લોબલ ગુજરાતી ભાવકો સુધી પહોંચી શકે,

·        વિદેશમાં વસતા ગુજરાતી ભાષાના ચાહકો, ભાષાના બદલાતા પ્રવાહોથી વાકેફ થાય અને નવા ગીતો, નવા સ્વરાંકનો અને નવી કવિતા અને ગઝલોનો આનંદ લઇ શકે.

·        અમેરિકાના વિવિધ શહેરોમાં વસતા ગુજરાતી કલાકારોને પણ ગુજરાતી ભાવકો સામે રજૂ કરવા.

ઇન્ટરનેશનલ ગુજરાતી કલ્ચરલ સોસાયટી – એટલાન્ટા નીચે જણાવેલા વિવિધ પ્રકારના કાર્યક્ર્મો કરવા કટીબધ્ધ છે.

v  ગુજરાતી સૂગમ સંગીત

v  નવી પેઢીને લક્ષ્યમાં રાખીને જિંદગીના વિવિધ પાસાઓને આવરી લેતી સંવાદ શ્રેણીઓ,

v  કવિ સંમેલન

v  લોકગીત અને ડાયરો

v  ગુજરાતી ભાષાના પ્રયોગાત્મક અને વ્યવસાયિક રંગભૂમિના એક્દમ અનોખી વિષયવસ્તુ વાળા નાટકો.

v  થીમ બેઝડ કાર્યક્રમો
